Alaa is a co-founder and managing director of Enmaa Financial Services, a boutiqueinvestment bank that started in Egypt mid 2007, and currently conductingtransactions all over the MENA region through offices in Egypt and KSA.Thecompany closed transactions for more than 1.2B LE, besides severalstrategyconsulting and financial advisory mandates. Besides Enmaa Financial Services, Alaa is an angel investor, and financed several startups in service companies, the most notable of which were a CSR company in Egypt, a digital advertising company in Egypt as well, a PR agency in Algeria, and a world music and dance school in the US (http://www.zambaleta.org) Alaa is currently heading the sub-committee of the American Chamber of Commerce working on establishing an angel investor network and eco-system for the first time in Egypt.
Before founding Enmaa Financial Services, Alaa’s background spans manufacturing, sales, marketing, turnarounds, start-ups and general management with Mars Inc. with whom he worked in several markets including Dubai, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon andAlgeria. Alaa also worked for Bain & Company as a Strategy consultant inthe Paris office, focusing on new clients in the Middle East, working on a variety of projects in private sector development, strategy, organization andM&A across France, Spain, Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE.
Alaa spends a good portion of his time working on volunteer projects all-over Africa, SouthAmerica and Asia with various NGOs like Habitat for Humanity in Chile, LaMilagrosa in Venezuela, Coup de Pouce in France, TechnoServe in Mozambique, Antelope Park in Zimbabwe, Injaz in Jordan, CRTP in Mongolia, Nahdet El Mahrousa, Endeavor and AmCham in Egypt.
Alaa is a construction engineer from the American University in Cairo, and received his MBA from INSEAD (France and Singapore), spending a part of his program in Wharton Business School in the US. Alaa currently heads the INSEAD alumni association in Egypt. Alaa is currently finishing his Doctorate of Business Administration, at the Instituto de Impres a (IE Business School) as apart time program in Spain, where he publishes academic papers and business articles in various business publications and conferences worldwide, and lectures part-time in different universities like AUC.
