Craig Abel D’Souza

Craig D’Souza is a financial services professional with over 15 years of broad and international banking experience currently working in a Bahraini-based Bank with strong regional and international presence. Prior to that he has worked with the Big 4 accounting firms focusing on the financial services segment in the Kingdom of Bahrain and India. Craig is a technical specialist and has in-depth knowledge on various topics of IFRS, Basel, VAT, CBB, SAMA, CBUAE and other relevant laws and statutes. At the Bahraini-based Bank, Craig plays a multifaceted role including standard financial control duties, but has also focused on the Bank's ever growing retail banking segment which involves a digital only proposition, including the successful rollout of the first shariah compliant digital bank in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Craig’s specialties include financial services (banking and insurance) audit and accounting advisory, IFRS, financial analysis, equity valuation, portfolio management and cost optimization, all packaged along with a sense of humor. Craig is passionate about shaping tomorrow’s financial services world, investing and promoting the startup ecosystem in the region and enjoys music in his free time. Craig holds an MBA from London Business School, and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, a CFA Charterholder from the CFA Institute, a CAIA Charterholder from the CAIA Association and a Certified FRM from the Global Association of Risk Professionals, USA.
